Jade Masson-Wong, the Canadian fighter from Quebec, will be the headline star of BKFC 65 at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, United States. In preparation for this important championship fight for the flyweight belt, Masson-Wong has been training for several months at the renowned Pound 4 Pound boxing club in Montreal, led by head coach Marc Ramsay.
Meanwhile, the Canadian company Allrem Sports & Entertainment, based in the Montreal area, plays a key role behind the scenes in developing combat sports in Canada. Allrem Sports & Entertainment, a company of the Allrem group, is among the shareholders of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and is also a partner with BKFC, holding the rights for the sport's development in Canadian territory. Allrem Sports & Entertainment's mandate is to establish the combat sport in Canada in the near future.
Currently, several provincial regulations concerning combat sports do not allow bare-knuckle fights. However, discussions are ongoing with responsible authorities, including Quebec's Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux, to modify these rules. "We are in talks with several provincial regulatory authorities for combat sports in Canada, including the RACJ in Quebec," explains Erik de Pokomandy, president of Allrem Sports & Entertainment. "The sport is increasingly popular in Canada, and fans are asking to experience BKFC events. We are working very hard to develop the sport in Canada and, ultimately, to adapt regulations to organize major BKFC events in important boxing and MMA markets like Montreal and Toronto. The arrival of BKFC in Canada will also create new opportunities for local MMA and boxing athletes."
Currently, BKFC is the fastest-growing combat sport in the world. The arrival of Conor McGregor, UFC superstar, among its shareholders earlier this year has also contributed to popularizing the sport globally. Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, which is close to traditional boxing regulations, attracts both boxing and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans. In fact, several MMA fighters, including UFC stars like Mike Perry and Eddie Alvarez, have joined BKFC ranks in recent years.
BKFC 65, featuring Christine Ferea (8-1-0) versus Jade Masson-Wong (3-1-0), will be broadcast via the BKFC app or on streaming platforms like Fubo.
